If Carpenter Brut were the Giallo and Slasher of the Darksynth / Retrowave. then KING STEPHEN would most definitely be the Hammer and Universal Monsters version of the genre.
I'm so glad I bought this whole album. Its gleefully macabre from start to finish and quite frankly one of the best albums I've heard all year.

“…here I find myself writing in this old type machine what it will be my final entry in this diary of madness. No longer can I spend the days, the hours, the eternal seconds feeling how my mind descends uncontrollably in a spiral of madness induced by an infernal and constant stream of the most unreasonable fear and horror… all because of THAT BOOK… that ancient, decrepit and horrible black BOOK, from where an invisible and dense miasma of pure, insane and unfathomable malignity far more ancient than the very dust that still lingers at the very foundations of the unimaginable cosmos emanates from within its decrepit and blackened dusty pages.
Now I take advantage of these last moments right before my mind finalizes its unstoppable descend into the darkest of the most raw and deepest abyss plagued by horrors that, even now, loud in this room, on top of the deafening sound of the typewriter, unearthly voices and the most macabre songs and whispers vibrates in my ears countless nightmares impossible to be conceived by any sane mind on this plane of existence. Oh! I can hear them coming to devour me at last!
With my final lines I leave a warning to you, oh, blessed child of the light, DO NOT OPEN THE BOOK!, no matter what it tells you, through dreams, whispers… or even music…that eerie and macabre music... there is something that lives inside those horrible pages written with the blackest of inks, something old, once forgotten and fueled by the most insatiable and corrosive hunger, something from where evil itself is born from…singing... always singing... DO NOT OPEN THE BOOK!
But I tell you this, oh sweet reader of this old pages, if you do find unbearable the temptation and fall into the twisted space between the lines of madness… I assure that you will DANCE UNCONTROLABLY to the compass of the most marvelous, devious and most sinister melodies, played by orchestras of infernal halls, carrying the ghostly words of a forbidden knowledge, songs that tells tales far beyond fear and imagination, songs filled with macabre and dreadful horror… songs full OF MONSTERS AND OTHER HORROR STORIES…
